This summer marks 20 years since the passing of Murray Bookchin, the founding theorist of social ecology. We will be gathering in late August in Plainfield, Vermont to celebrate Bookchin’s wide ranging contributions to social theory, popular movements, municipal politics, environmental design and other key areas of influence. We’ve invited a wide array of speakers who’ve written about Bookchin’s contributions and brought the principles of social ecology into a wide array of social movements.
The gathering will be held over the weekened of August 28-30 on the the former campus of Goddard College in Plainfield, and we look forward to a dynamic weekend of learning, discussion and enjoying the height of late Vermont summer.
Gathering sessions tentatively include: Assessing Bookchin’s Legacy Contributions to Social Theory Social Ecology and Social Movements European Allies’ Forum Social Ecology and the Kurdish Revolution Confirmed speakers include Dan Chodorkoff, Debbie Bookchin, Marina Sitrin, Chaia Heller, Brian Tokar, Brooke Lehman, Peter Staudenmaier, Max Puchalsky, Paul McIsaac, Maximillian Fennec, Chaumtoli Huq, Camilo Viveiros and more.
Registration is available now on a sliding scale from $50 to $250 for the weekend. Rooms and meals are not included in the ISE’s registration fee, but are for a modest additional fee through the “Creative Campus at Goddard” website. See more here.
