For more information call (314) 664-1199<br \/>\nor visit our website.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gateway-greens.org\/biodev8\">www.gateway-greens.org\/biodev8<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Martha Crouch will be the keynote speaker, and she will be discussing<br \/>\nthe potential dangers of Genetic Engineering to the environment and to<br \/>\npersonal health, and our alternatives to it. She studied Botany at Oregon<br \/>\nState and went on to get a Ph.D. from Yale in Developmental Biology. She<br \/>\nthen worked at Indiana University for twenty years as an Associate Professor.<br \/>\nThere, she became a pioneer of Genetic Engineering (GE). Her lab was very<br \/>\nsuccessful, yet she realized her work was not fulfilling her love of<br \/>\nnature. She says,<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;GE technology doesn&#8217;t have any place in sustainable agriculture. Besides<br \/>\nthe personal health and environmental dangers of GE foods, the dependence<br \/>\non specialists and scientists required by GE was a problem. Unfortunately,<br \/>\nto ignore the affects of GE on agriculture is not really a luxury that we<br \/>\ncan afford right now.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a
