Our ongoing discussion series around race and ecology hosted by Kali Akuno continues with an examination of developments across the African continent. There is a lot of motion in Africa, both progressive and reactionary from the perspective of radical social and ecological transformation. It is critical for organizers in the United States to be aware of and form alliances with the radical movements across Africa fighting imperialism and capitalism and advancing a liberated ecological society. There has not been a lot of attention on these movements and issues in the Western media, yet we at the Institute for Social Ecology believe it is essential to learn build international solidarity in order to realize our radical vision of an ecological society beyond domination.
